Meet George Singletary
Co-Teacher
George has been married to his wife, Rhonda, for 50 years, and together they have one son. He works as the Produce Supervisor at Piggly Wiggly. At Emmanuel Baptist Church, George serves as a teacher for the Men’s Life Group, Living Hope, alongside Jack Smith and Kurt Brockett. He is also a faithful member of the Sound and Audio team for Sunday mornings and Wednesday practices, and is actively involved in the Men’s Prayer Breakfast held every third Saturday of the month. George is passionate about studying God’s Word and building meaningful relationships, especially with older members of the church. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, woodworking, bowling, and fishing, and is a former runner.

Meet Jack Smith
Co-Teacher
Jack has been married to his wife, Cynthia, for 60 years, and together they have two children—a daughter and a son. Jack’s professional life was diverse and fulfilling, including roles as a railroad switchman (a job he fondly describes as fun), a licensed insurance agent, a cytotechnologist, and most notably, a biology teacher for 38½ years. He has been retired since 2005. Jack has a long history of faithful service at Emmanuel Baptist Church, having sung in both the youth and adult choirs, taught Sunday School off and on since he was a junior in high school, led the monthly nursing home ministry for five years until it ended during COVID, and continues to volunteer with VBS and as a Judgement House counselor. He is passionate about teaching and believes there is no greater subject than God’s Word. While health issues have limited his ability to fish, Jack still enjoys painting from time to time.

Meet Kurt Brockett
Co-Teacher
Kurt has been married to his wife, Paige, for 26 years, and together they have two grown children. A graduate of The Citadel, Kurt is a business owner, entrepreneur, and grocery broker. At Emmanuel Baptist Church, he serves as a co-teacher of the men’s Living Hope Life Group, volunteers in the church’s Judgement House production in a gripping role as well as other Resurrection dramas, and also serves as an usher and on the welcome team. Kurt is passionate about the sense of community at the church and values the opportunity to grow and learn alongside fellow believers while encouraging one another in their faith journeys. Although he does not have much free time, he enjoys visiting members of his class and traveling, and he is greatly loved by his friends and family.
